• The Boyd & Jenerette law firm hired two associates — R. Anthony Salem and John Paglio — at its Jacksonville office. Salem was an assistant state attorney in the Fourth Judicial Circuit where he handled more than 25 jury trials. Paglio began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for U.S. Magistrate Judge Howard Snyder. He also served as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Harvey Schlesinger.
• Constangy, Brooks & Smith attorneys John Dickinson and Damon Kitchen in Jacksonville were named to the Chambers USA 2012 edition of top-ranked lawyers.
• Three former prosecutors have rejoined the State Attorney’s Office within the past two months. Jessica Klingensmith joined the office in January 2009, left in March this year for the State Attorney’s Office in Tallahassee and has returned to the Jacksonville office. Joe Licandro worked at the office from May 2007 to September 2011 and then joined a private law firm before returning in April. Alexis Sykes joined the office in October 2007 and left in May 2011 for the State Attorney’s Office in Miami. She returned to the Jacksonville office in April.
• Six attorneys with the Smith Hulsey & Busey firm were recognized as “Leaders in their Field” by international legal research organization Chambers and Partners. The rankings are listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA. Named were firm Chairman Stephen Busey, Jeanne Helton, Cynthia Jackson, M. Richard Lewis Jr., Annika Wallace and Harry M. Wilson III. Seven attorneys also were recognized on the 2012 Florida Super Lawyers and Florida “Rising Star” lists. Super Lawyers are Busey, Wilson, William Kuntz, James Post and E. Lanny Russell. Rising Stars are Charmaine T. M. Chiu and Lee Wedekind III.
• The state Department of Transportation will hold an informal public meeting about construction improvements to Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway at 21st Street starting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Baptist Church at 1553 E. 21st St. The department will provide a short presentation at 6:30 p.m. followed by public comment.
• The Jacksonville Waterways Commission voted to declare one of its seats open at its Wednesday meeting. Commission member Caryn Carreiro has missed the last nine meetings of the commission.
