• The office of Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland began its 2012 Countywide Student Voter Registration Drive Tuesday. Local high schools, colleges and universities are working with the elections office to register students during the three-day drive.
• The CoreLogic research group reported that foreclosure rates in Jacksonville among outstanding mortgage loans was 8.87 percent in January, up 0.54 percentage points compared to January 2011 when the rate was 8.33 percent. Foreclosure activity in Jacksonville is higher than the national foreclosure rate of 3.43 percent in January. Also, the mortgage delinquency rate increased in Jacksonville. In January, 14.29 percent of mortgage loans were 90 days or more delinquent compared to 13.56 percent for the same period last year, an increase of 0.73 percentage points.
• The University of North Florida Department of English and the City of Atlantic Beach will present the third season of Shakespeare in the Park. This year’s production of “Much Ado About Nothing” will open April 6 at UNF and then move to the Church of the Good Shepherd for a performance and close at Russell Park in Atlantic Beach. The production is directed by Pam Monteleone, UNF associate professor of English, with music by Ryan Janney and swordplay by Raul Toro. The cast features UNF students and members of the Jacksonville community. • The Jacksonville Aviation Authority and the Jacksonville International Airport Arts Commission have issued an open call to all professional artists for a request for statement of qualifications and interest. The JAA and the commission seek artists to develop site-specific artwork proposals for the Courtyard Restroom Fin Wall and two Water Fountain Surrounds.
