Age: 32

Family: My wife Lauren and I are expecting our first child — a daughter — this September.

Pets: Two rescued dogs, Bandit and Lily

Education: I’m a double Gator. I received both my J.D. (2007) and my B.A. (2002) from University of Florida.

Admitted to Bar: April 2008

Employed: Tanner Bishop

Professional organizations: American Bar Association, The Jacksonville Bar Association, The Federal Bar Association and Chester Bedell American Inn of Court.

Community involvement: I have been fortunate to participate in a number of community-focused activities through my involvement in The JBA, especially the Young Lawyers Section, as well as the local chapter of UF’s Alumni Association.

How did you get involved?

I became involved with the Citizenship Day event through my service on The JBA Law Day committee. I believe it’s important that lawyers be seen not just as officers of the courts but also as their ambassadors, so I found the Law Day theme this year, “No Courts, No Justice, No Freedom,” particularly compelling. Many of the individuals seeking citizenship in the United States come from places where notions of justice and the rule of law are essentially meaningless, so it’s uplifting to help immigrants who follow and respect the legal path to citizenship.

How can someone else get involved?

Contact The Jacksonville Bar Association or Jacksonville Area Legal Aid.

What have you learned through the experience?

Never underestimate people. Also, I got to witness, firsthand, how lucky our community is to have such smart and dedicated attorneys at Jacksonville Area Legal Aid.

What is the last book you read or are reading?

I’m currently reading “The Marriage Plot: A Novel,” by Jeffrey Eugenides. I recently finished “Ad Infinitum: A Biography of Latin,” by Nicholas Ostler.
