There’s a new store at the Landing dedicated to bringing a new line of merchandise and a new shopping experience Downtown.
“Subculture” is the second location for a family business that started more than a year ago in Five Points. The store has a selection of clothing, jewelry and accessories for women.
The store has brought a line of corsets Downtown that co-owner Ashley Price said is the second best-selling item in the store, behind the jewelry.
“We are all about being funky, fun and affordable. We encourage people to be crazy and dress up,” she said.
The corsets are purchased by all ages, said Price.
“Teenagers and housewives buy the corsets. They were very popular for proms. We had a group of 10 women buy matching pink corsets for a breast cancer run. Another customer bought a corset to wear over a black dress at a formal affair. Our corsets aren’t lingerie and we have a lot of colors and textures,” she said.
When the family was looking for the store’s second location, other addresses were considered. The Landing was chosen for a couple of reasons, said Price.
“A lot of our customers are women who work Downtown and we need some exciting shopping Downtown,” she said.
The store has an open floor plan.
“I think people appreciate how eclectic our stores are,” Price said.
To introduce the store to the neighborhood, Price said Subculture is offering a 15 percent discount for Downtown workers.
“Just show your employee ID badge,” said Price.
Subculture at the Landing is on the first floor between Body Shop and Nine West Outlet. The store is open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
