Jacksonville-based Advanced Disposal Services Inc. said Tuesday it has completed the acquisition of Veolia ES Solid Waste Inc., a $1.9 billion transaction making it the largest industry transaction in four years.
The company said the combined business, operating as Advanced Disposal, will be the largest privately owned environmental services company in the United States with operations in 20 states and annual revenues of about $1.4 billion.
"A transaction of this magnitude takes time and significant efforts from all parties. I am extremely grateful to the teams from both Advanced Disposal and Veolia who contributed countless hours to make this strategic combination a reality. " said Charlie Appleby, chairman and CEO of Advanced Disposal, in a statement.
Advanced Disposal said it is the largest privately owned environmental services company in the United States providing solid waste collection, transfer, recycling and disposal services in the Eastern U.S.
Advanced Disposal owns and operates commercial, industrial, and residential solid waste collection operations, municipal solid waste landfills, transfer stations and recycling facilities.
Advanced Disposal has operations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Wisconsin and the Bahamas.
The company has been negotiating incentives for a headquarters location in St. Johns County and in Jacksonville as well as reviewing three sites outside of Florida — Atlanta; Charlotte, N.C.; and Milwaukee — for the growing organization.
Advanced Disposal Chief Marketing Officer Mary O'Brien said the company hopes to announce a decision by the end of the month.
