• The Community Foundation in Jacksonville will announce "one of the largest philanthropic gifts in the history of Jacksonville" at 2 p.m. today at its office at 245 Riverside Ave., Suite 310, according to a news release. In September, Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver converted their philanthropic Weaver Family Foundation into a $23.7 million advised fund at the foundation, which serves as fund advisers. It was the second single largest gift the foundation received in its 28-year history.

• Due to a lack of action items, the Dec. 6 meeting of the Downtown Development Review Board has been canceled.

• Duval County Public Schools Superintendent Nikolai Vitti will host open forum meetings with parents and the community about his vision for the school system at 6 p.m. Monday at Terry Parker High School and 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at Fletcher High School. Parents and guardians with students of all ages are invited to attend and participate. The dates and locations for the remaining five meetings will soon be announced, according to a news release.

• In partnership with the Florida Lottery, GTECH Corp. will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday for a computer lab at Girls Inc. of Jacksonville. The ceremony is part of a nationwide program GTECH implemented in 1999 to serve at-risk youth in communities where the company does business. Girls Inc.is a national nonprofit youth organization that offers programs and experiences to girls to help overcome economic and social barriers. GTECH is a gaming technology and services company.

• The Dalton Agency has entered a business development partnership with Yo-Fi Wellness, an online employee health and wellness benefits program. The company provides businesses ways to reduce health care-related costs by increasing productivity and reducing absenteeism and sick leave.

• Southside dentist Greg Tarantola was a featured speaker during the country's largest dental conference over the weekend. His presentations, "The 10 Decisions Dentists Must Make to Get the Results Everyone Expects" and "What Makes a Case Complex," were made to the Greater New York Dental Meeting, which was attended by almost 60,000 people.

• The Association for Corporate Growth North Florida Chapter will have its holiday reception and program 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at The River Club and feature Dick Erickson, Sun Tire founder and owner, as its keynote speaker. For more information, visit acg.org/northflorida/events.

• Clarification: A Nov. 19 The Jacksonville Bar Association column discussed a mentoring program being rolled out by The Florida Bar. The program is part of The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division and its Law Student Division.

• Corrections: A Nov. 14 workspace feature misidentified John Hall McManus. He was the father-in-law of James F. Bailey Sr., publisher Jim Bailey's father. A Thursday story regarding a report about a possible Supervisor of Elections office move to the Yates Building incorrectly stated the Tax Collector would be part of such a move. Also, Melissa Milione's name was misspelled.
