• The Fourth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission has announced that six nominees have been submitted to Gov. Rick Scott for consideration to fill a Circuit Court judicial vacancy. They are Marianne Lloyd Aho, of Marks Gray; Roberto Arias, county judge; Joanna Gude Houser, Fourth Circuit Family Court magistrate; Tatiana Salvador, of Rogers Towers; Michael Sharrit of Terrell Hogan; and Gary Wilkinson of Bledsoe Jacobson Schmidt Wright & Wilkinson. The six were from a pool of 19 candidates to succeed retiring Judge Mack Crenshaw Jr., who serves Clay County.
• Amanda Brooks has joined the Driver McAfee Peek & Hawthorne law firm as an associate. Her practice focus is on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, business, contracts, venture capital and securities law. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida and bachelor’s degree in corporate finance from the University of North Florida.
• Attorney Michael Lockamy of Bedell, Dittmar, DeVault, Pillans & Coxe will be the keynote speaker for the First Coast Chapter of the League of Women Voters’ next “Hot Topics Luncheon” at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the University of North Florida University Center. • Also Thursday, the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association will hold its October meeting at The River Club featuring Jennifer Mansfield, Holland & Knight partner, speaking about ethics and social media for attorneys. Doors open at 11:45 a.m. and the meeting costs $25 for members, $28 for non-members.
• Florida Coastal School of Law will host “Reflections on the 200th Anniversary of Spain’s Constitution of Cadiz” beginning at 11 a.m. Oct. 19. The conference is co-sponsored by the City of St. Augustine and International University School of Law and will feature Eduardo Garrigues, Spain’s Consul General in Puerto Rico, who will offer an opening keynote address.
