• Throughout 2013, the Jacksonville Port Authority will honor the work of those who have contributed to the port’s success by collecting port-related photos, memories and stories to be highlighted throughout the year. • The Jacksonville chapter of the International Council of Shopping Centers plans a lunch program at noon Nov. 8 at III Forks restaurant in Tapestry Park on the Southside. The program will feature Geneva Henderson, Lat Purser & Associates executive vice president, and Toney Sleiman, Sleiman Enterprises president, to lead a panel discussion about what it takes to close a deal in today’s market.

• The Olga L. Braham and Etta L. Brooks Branch Library will remain open for early voting but the children’s department will be closed for interior repairs and a roof replacement. Starting Nov. 11, the entire building will be closed for repairs. It should reopen Dec. 18.

• City Animal Care and Protective Services has modified adoption hours beginning Thursday. Adoption hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Intake hours remain unchanged at 8 a.m.-noon Tuesday-Friday. Animal code enforcement officers will continue to work 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day.

• Chris Clodfelter and Peter Vastyan have been named projects managers at Paul Davis Restoration of North Florida. They will be responsible for estimating and overseeing jobs and staff involved with restoration, emergency mitigation, cleanup and reconstruction of property damage for water, fire, smoke, vandalism and mold insurance claim losses. Both have experience in the residential and construction field. The company provides restoration services for residential and commercial properties in 11 Florida counties.

• Jonathan Spiller, former president and CEO of Armor Holdings, will speak Nov. 29 to the JAX Chamber CEO Nexus Forum at the Jacksonville University Davis College of Business. The forum is for CEOs, business owners and C-level executives of local “second-stage” businesses — Florida-based, privately owned companies with 10-99 employees and more than $1 million in annual revenue — to discuss their business experiences.
