The 7th annual “Pet Walk” edition of First Wednesday Art Walk is 5-9 p.m. Wednesday – rain or shine – at Downtown venues from Hemming Plaza to The Florida Theatre.

While well-behaved pets on leashes are always welcome at Art Walk, this is the month each year that the event is tailored to four-legged participants and their people.

A reggae band is scheduled to perform at Hemming Plaza, where there will be booths staffed by First Coast No More Homeless Pets and the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens’ young professionals group, “The Wild Things.”

Pets available for adoption and a dog trainer will be visiting Snyder Memorial along Laura Street near the plaza.

Representatives from the Jacksonville Humane Society will also be present, providing information about pet adoptions at Perdue Inc. along Forsyth Street. Upstairs at CoWork Jacksonville, an information session is planned to explain details about the April 2013 “One Spark” event.

Local author Ron P. Whittington will be at Chamblin’s Uptown signing copies of his latest spy novel, “Doppelganged.” The book is the sequel to Whittington’s “Second Strike,” a fictional tale of a terrorist attack at the Florida-Georgia football game.

Also on the schedule for Wednesday evening is the grand opening of Pho A Noodle Bar, the new fast-service Asian restaurant at 117 W. Adams St. in the former Chew location. The noodle shop is a second venture and concept for Indochine Thai restaurant.
