Charlie Appleby, chairman of the board of directors and CEO for Advanced Disposal Services, has resigned from the JEA board of directors.

He was appointed to the board by Mayor Alvin Brown in December to replace Karen Bowling, who resigned to become the City's deputy chief administrative officer.

Appleby was confirmed by City Council Feb. 17 and his resignation brings the JEA board to five members with two vacancies.

Jay Fant reached term limits in February and the mayor has yet to fill his seat.

The current board includes Chairman Ashton Hudson, Vice Chairman Mike Hightower, Cynthia Austin, Ron Townsend and Lisa Strange Weatherby.
