Community Hospice of Northeast Florida plans larger Beach Boulevard thrift store
The City is reviewing a building-permit application for the Hospice Thrift Shop to benefit Community Hospice of Northeast Florida in Southside at 11173 Beach Blvd., which some might recall as a former location for Maron's Furniture.
Plans show Auld & White Constructors LLC as the contractor for the $200,000 project to renovate almost 15,000 square feet of space.
The City approved a permit Friday for interior demolition at the location at a project cost of $15,000. Auld & White is the contractor.
The communityhospice.com website shows that Community Hospice sells new and gently used clothing, jewelry, antiques, collectibles, furniture, appliances, housewares, books and other items at its two Community Hospice Thrift Shops.
"At 8,000 square feet each, our Beach Boulevard store in Jacksonville and our Blanding Boulevard store in Orange Park are mini-department stores, selling new and gently used merchandise at reasonable prices," it says.
The existing Beach Boulevard shop is at 10771 Beach Blvd., No. 406. The Orange Park store is at 680 Blanding Blvd.
According to its website, Jacksonville-based Community Hospice of Northeast Florida was created in 1979 to provide hospice services and serves patients with advanced illnesses residing in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties.
It provides care to about 1,300 patients a day and has served almost 82,000 adults and children since it was founded.
Dollar Tree approved at Merrill Station
Dollar Tree was cleared for tenant build-out in Arlington at Merrill Station next to the Walmart Neighborhood Market.
The City approved interior tenant remodeling for Dollar Tree at 8011 Merrill Road, in unit 2, at a cost of $151,787. Summit General Contractors Inc. is the contractor for the 8,078-square-foot project.
The City previously approved demolition of five retail suites to make contiguous space for Dollar Tree.
The Walmart Neighborhood Market is under renovation in a former Food Lion grocery store.
Dollar General reviewing Main Street store
A Dollar General store is shown on an application for a project at 5806 N. Main St.
A mobility fee application filed with the City shows a 9,100-square-foot store on 1.3 acres at North Main Street at West 48th Street. Correspondence with the application shows plans to develop a Dollar General.
The agent is Concept Development LLC of Gainesville and the property owner is shown as Lease Investors LLC.
The site currently is occupied in the front by Donuts Etc.
Rack Room remodeling at Roosevelt
The City approved a permit for contractor H Pittman Enterprises Inc. to remodel the existing Rack Room Shoe store in Roosevelt Square at a project cost of $80,033.
The 5,445-square-foot store is at 4495 Roosevelt Blvd. center, in No. 104, next to the Publix Super Markets Inc. store.
Rack Room Shoes, based in Charlotte, N.C., opened the Roosevelt Square store in West Jacksonville in 1997 and has updated the location a few times, according to the company.
Dewberry Capital Corp. of Atlanta is the property landlord.
Rack Room Shoes Project Manager Andy Foster said previously the company has four stores in Jacksonville and one in Jacksonville Beach.
In addition to Roosevelt Square, it has Jacksonville stores at The Avenues mall in Southside, River City Marketplace in North Jacksonville and Riverplace Shopping Center in Mandarin.
Camping World licensed
Duval County Tax Collector Michael Corrigan issued a business license for Camping World Inc. to operate a retail store at 10101 Interstate Center Drive in North Jacksonville.
Site plans are in review for Camping World at the former North Florida Hyundai site at that address.
Plans show Camping World intends to operate in a 40,000-square-foot building that would comprise an 8,000-square-foot showroom, a 12,000-square-foot office area and 20,000 square feet for RV repair. The project is on a 13.4-acre site.
Bueme Engineering Inc. is the project engineer. The property is owned by the Fred S. Hassan Trust.
Camping World has a location at 9012 Beach Blvd.
Camping World, based in Lincolnshire, Ill., says on its campingworld.com site that it is the nation's largest retailer of RV supplies, accessories, services and new and used RVs. The company was founded in 1966, growing from a single location in Bowling Green, Ky.
The company says it employs nearly 3,600 associates and serves more than 4 million RV enthusiasts with more than 100 retail locations and annual revenues topping $1.7 billion.
DTLR plans 2nd Jacksonville store
DTLR, which already is shown on a building-permit application as a new tenant in River City Marketplace, apparently intends to open a second North Jacksonville store.
Plans show a 4,056-square-foot DTLR will be built-out in Highland Square Shopping Center at 1010 Dunn Ave.
No contractor was specified for the $40,000 interior tenant improvement project. RMMM Architects of Chesapeake, Va., is the designer.
DTLR, which stands for Down Town Locker Room, is a clothing retailer aimed at the 30-and-under demographic. It focuses on apparel and shoes for a core demographic of customers from ages 15-30.
The River City Marketplace store is planned at 13221 City Station Drive. The application for that store shows a $40,000 build-out of 6,000 square feet of space.
DTLR is based in Hanover, Md. Its logo is "Your Fashion … Your Lifestyle!"
The dtlr.com site says DTLR has been in business for 30 years and sells footwear, apparel and music.
It operates more than 80 stores in Alabama, the Carolinas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
DTLR says on the site that it "values the lifestyle of today's youth and is committed to bringing the hottest fashions to the streets. By retailing the latest designs from apparel & footwear companies such as LRG, New Era, Levi's, Nike, Adidas, Polo, UGG, New Balance & Timberland, DTLR is able to stay fashion forward."
Bealls updating Mandarin store
Bealls Department Stores Inc. plans to renovate its Mandarin Pointe store at 12200 San Jose Blvd.
A building-permit application shows Bealls intends to renovate the store at a project cost of $92,955. McIntyre Elwell & Strammer General Contractors Inc. is shown as the contractor.
Renovations include carpeting and tile work, fitting rooms and other repairs and renovations.
