One of Downtown's holiday traditions is housed at the Hyatt each year when the gingerbread village is unveiled.

A project of the hotel's pastry artists, the display reflects the Downtown skyline.

This year, a friendly in-house competition was added when 16 of the hotel's departments created gingerbread displays that were set up in the lobby near the front desk. Business and leisure travelers from all over the U.S. and the world cast ballots for their favorite.

When the votes were counted Wednesday, the laundry department's entry was declared the top vote-getter in the inaugural contest.

The gingerbread village display will be in the lobby near the Coastline Drive entrance until the day after Christmas. Then it will be dismantled for the hotel team to prepare for thousands of University of Georgia and University of Michigan fans arriving for the Taxslayer.com Gator Bowl game on New Year's Day.
