The first Community First Saturday of the New Year is this weekend with the JAX Chamber playing host.

The monthly event on the first Saturday of every month will take place at the Jacksonville Jaguars International Plaza from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. The plaza is at the corner of Ocean and Bay streets, adjacent to the chamber and featuring flags from around the world.

January’s event will be highlighted by “The Great Urban

Core Scavenger Hunt” sponsored by the Omni Downtown. The hunt will have teams of up to four people competing for prizes with registration starting at 10 a.m. and lasting from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

The day will also feature a “Fight Fit” class at 11:30 a.m. to start New Year’s weight-loss resolutions. The John Carver Band from the Community First Natural Life Music Festival plays at 1 p.m., with the lineup for the festival announced at 2 p.m.

In addition, there will be a free bike valet, live entertainment and food trucks.

Community First Saturdays was launched in October 2012 as a partnership between the chamber and Community First Credit Union. The monthly events from September-June debuted along the Northbank Riverwalk and feature tai chi and Zumba classes along with other programmed activities. The second season began in September.
