It isn't the largest corporate relocation in Downtown's history, but a local attorney services firm has a new name and a new address.
Hadlow Attorney Services, formerly Stockton Attorney Services, moved this week from Ortega to 45 W. Adams St.
Office Director Courtney Kayser said the relocation was motivated by proximity.
"We wanted to be closer to our clients and we're within walking distance of the courthouse, so we can keep an eye on our cases," she said.
The 5-year-old firm was founded by William Catlin IV, Bryce P. Hadlow and W. Austin Stockton.
Kayser said while the firm specializes in providing process services, courier and investigative services in North Florida, the staff is well-versed in the requirements and regulations in all 50 states.
"We provide the necessary steps and diligence required," she said.
Tracking down a person to serve a summons or subpoena also is part of the business. Kayser said avenues of research can include home address, business address, email and social media accounts, motor vehicle registrations, business licenses and financial records.
"If they are out there and they are breathing, we'll get them. If they're not breathing, we'll let you know where to find them," she said.
Even with advances in computer technology and Internet searches that can yield results in minutes, Kayser said process service is still a business about people.
"We have a new name and a new address, but it's the same service and the same faces. Even with technology, what's important are the people you deal with," she said.
After only a few days in the new office, the staff is discovering the neighborhood. Kayser said it's good to have so many restaurants within walking distance and the new address helps because it is closer to the legal market.
"Downtown is wonderful. We like seeing our clients walking around," she said.
