A new name, an old company.
Sometime early next year, the Jacksonville-based Prudential Network Realty will change its name to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty, reflecting the purchase of the franchises by the Omaha, Neb.-based company.
The announcement was made by Prudential founder and CEO Linda Sherrer in an email last month.
“It is serendipitous that we are discussing our company’s future today when nearly 25 years ago to the day, I announced our partnership as a founding member of Prudential Real Estate,” Sherrer wrote in an email to the company’s employees. “Just as I was then, I am delighted to announce we have chosen to become a founding member and an early adopter of the new Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices brand…
“Although we will have a new name, I assure you our company will remain locally owned and managed. I will continue to serve as your president and CEO and Christy Budnick will remain in her role as the executive vice president. In addition, our brokers, support staff and professional team of Realtors will remain the same.”
Prudential is now part of the conglomerate headed by 82-year-old investor Warren Buffett. Berkshire Hathaway this year was named the most respected company in the nation by Barron’s, the business periodical.
