Sue Chamblin Frederick, an author known for her novels of espionage and intrigue, has taken a new direction with her new book, “Grandma Takes a

Lover.”

Frederick said she decided to leave the spy thrillers behind and try writing a “saucy love story” for a nontraditional market.

“Most of the romance novels out there are aimed at younger people, but women 50-plus have the money to buy books and the time to read them. There’s romance in life as long as we’re breathing,” she said.

Frederick described the plot as “a realistic love story with some humor” involving two senior citizens who meet and fall in love in a small Georgia town.

“It’s not ’50 Shades of Grey.’ There are only two shades,” she said.

Frederick will be signing copies of her book from 1-5 p.m. Nov. 8 at Chamblin’s Uptown.
