Family: I have been married for 21 years to Janine Moore. We have four children: Matthew, 16; Lilly, 15; Andrew, 13; and William, 7.
Pets: A dog named Tally and a cat named Fern. These pets cannot be within eyesight of each other at any time or a scramble ensues. I am still trying to understand how we ended up with these two particular pets at the same time.
Education: B.S. in mechanical engineering, Florida Atlantic University (1991) and J.D. with high honors from the University of Florida College of Law (1996).

How did you become involved?
I have typically volunteered my time and resources in areas that reflect my abilities and our family’s interests. Focusing on areas that match up with your unique gifts makes it more likely that you will have a positive impact and remain committed to the effort. For example, as the father of four children, I have spent countless hours volunteering and coaching youth baseball and basketball teams, including through the NOL Little League program, which runs baseball and softball leagues at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. These organizations provide a great opportunity to mentor the next generation in a fun, competitive environment.
How can someone else become involved?
In nearly each instance, I have responded to a trusted friend’s invitation to serve in a particular area. I recommend remaining willing to explore new areas of service as opportunities arise. Of course, it is always permissible to identify a need and become involved on your own initiative.
What have you learned/achieved through the experience?
I have learned that serving others is always rewarding and may have an impact that is not evident until years later. It is a great encouragement to watch individuals that I have coached or otherwise served mature into responsible young adults who in turn are willing to help others. I recently coached in a youth basketball game officiated by two high school juniors. I used to coach these impressive young men at NOL. Needless to say, I did not complain about any of their calls.
What was the last book you read or are reading?
“Raising a Modern Day Knight” by Robert Lewis (there are three budding knights in our family) and “The Fallen Angel” by Daniel Silva (I might have been a spy if I didn’t have such a love of corporate law).
