Breakfast and lunch will be served buffet-style and dinner will be served in a lobby function room for the rest of January at the Omni Downtown while renovation of Juliette's Bistro and the hotel's lobby are underway.

Omni General Manager Burnell Goldman said Juliette's will be transformed into an "open-air restaurant" with new floor coverings, wall treatments and furniture.

The JBar lounge also will be redesigned with softer lighting and the removal of what Goldman called "the spaceship" above the bar. White tablecloths will be part of the new décor.

"Juliette's will be more upscale," he said.

The ground floor changes are the first phase of more than $7 million in renovations planned at the hotel.

Goldman said the restaurant and lobby improvements should be completed by Feb. 1 and the hotel's more than 350 guest rooms are scheduled to be redecorated beginning later this year after Florida-Georgia weekend.
