The centerpiece of the 33rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Monday was a three-hour procession of marchers and riders that went past thousands of spectators Downtown.

High school bands and ROTC units, civic organizations, fire trucks and motorcycles followed a route from the Prime Osborn Convention Center to Metropolitan Park.

After the parade, the celebration continued at the park with a gospel music concert and tributes to the late Nelson Mandela of South Africa and the late Chester Aikens, a Jacksonville civic leader.
