Nocatee center adds salon, UPS and office condos

Construction will soon begin on new office and retail space at Nocatee Town Center.

Workers will break ground in October on The Town Plaza Offices at Nocatee, an office condo complex that will include four 7,500-square-foot single-story buildings for doctors, financial advisers, retailers and attorneys. The anticipated completion date of the first building is March.

In addition, Regency Centers will begin construction in November on a retail building at the Town Center. Tenants will include Rainbow Pediatric Center, Re/Max Unlimited, Trompe L’oeil Salon and a UPS Store. The building also includes space for a restaurant.

First Coast Apartment Association members win spirit award

Two First Coast Apartment Association members won the Maintenance Mania Spirit Award at the 2014 National Apartment Association Education Conference and Exposition.

Property maintenance technicians Jimmy Garcia, of Avistele of Ponte Vedra and Renaissance Property Group, and Kyle Slagle, with Addison Landing Apartments and WRH Realty Services, competed in the Maintenance Mania National Competition held June 20 in Denver.

The event consisted of a race-car competition and eight skill-based games based on common maintenance activities.

Agency raising money for military wreaths

For the third year in a row, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty is raising money in support of “Wreaths Across America,” a national campaign designed to honor fallen veterans.

Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, which began in 1992. Ceremonies will be held at more than 750 locations on Dec. 13, including in Jacksonville and St. Augustine.

Berkshire Hathaway is accepting donations or sponsorships to support the program. The cost is $15 per wreath. The deadline to donate or purchase a wreath is Aug. 1. Contact Ann King at (904) 471-6906 for more information or visit wreathsacrossamerica.org.

Builders Care finishes AMIkids renovation

Builders Care, the charitable arm of the Northeast Florida Builders Association, celebrated the grand opening of AMIkids Jacksonville, a school serves at-risk youth.

That Builders Care’s renovation of the 13,000-square-foot school building at 13375 Beach Blvd., included an extensive interior and exterior makeover. The $1.2 million project provided additional classroom space, experiential learning areas and improved efficiency for faculty management.

• Watson Realty Corp. has hired Abraham Blocker as assistant to the president, Ed Forman.

Blocker was recently honorably discharged from active duty in the Marine Corps, where he served for 10 years.

He most recently worked as a recruiter in Jacksonville Beach, where he received multiple awards and was recognized as rookie recruiter of the year in 2013.

• LandSouth Construction, a Jacksonville-based general contractor specializing in multifamily and senior housing, has hired Rob Vergnolle and Mario Ibanez as project managers, Justin Marchant as project estimator and Krista Frazee as project administrator.

Vergnolle has more than 20 years of construction experience with completion of over 5,500 multifamily units. Ibanez has over 30 years of project management experience, completing over 8,000 condominium and apartment units. Marchant was estimator/inside sales for a leading manufacturing company in Rhode Island. Frazee has extensive experience in administrative and customer service. 

• Meridian Capital Group, LLC, a commercial real estate finance and advisory firm, negotiated a $9.9 million loan for the purchase of the San Pablo Apartments, a 200-unit multifamily complex at 14401 Jose Vedra Blvd.
