For more than 10 years, the summer exhibit tradition at the Museum of Science & History has been to showcase dinosaurs.

This year, another prehistoric animal will be presented beginning May 24 when “Megalodon: Largest Shark That Ever Lived” opens to the public.

The centerpiece of the display is a 60-foot walk-through Megalodon sculpture. In addition to the giant shark that prowled ancient oceans more than 2 million years ago, the exhibit includes fossil and modern shark specimens and provides information about improving the health of oceans and survival of threatened species.

The exhibit was produced by the Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville with support from the National Science Foundation.
