The First Coast Apartment Association spotlighted local property maintenance technicians in its annual Maintenance Mania, held at the University of North Florida’s University Center.
More than 100 participants competed in eight maintenance-focused challenges that included water heater installation, key control, faucet installation, icemaker installation, fire and carbon monoxide safety installation, toilet conversion and ceiling fan installation.
Competitors also built a model car using at least three maintenance products or parts and raced it down a pinewood derby-style track.
The local champion for the second year in a row was Jimmy Garcia of The Lakes of Ponte Vedra. Other winners included Brandon Gay (second) of Fieldstone Village; Kyle Slagle (third) and Matt Metz (fourth), both of Avesta Mandarin; and Lee Caudill (fifth) of WRH Realty Services.
The local winners will go on to the next round of the competition at the Florida Apartment Association’s meeting in October.
The FCAA event was one of 70 local events scheduled across the country. Last year, local winners Garcia and Slagle competed at the national competition in Denver.
Forty Century 21 agents and brokers were honored at the North Florida Council’s March awards ceremony at Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club.
The company’s top award went to Wayne Altman of Century 21 Lighthouse Realty, who received the Centurion Producer Award.
Gabriel Kadas of Century 21 Atkins Realty and Tanya Liebal of Century 21 St. Augustine Properties both took Masters Diamond Producer Awards.
To qualify as a Centurion, agents must produce $218,000-$435,999 in adjusted gross commission or close on sales of 67-133 units.
To qualify as a Masters Diamond, agents must produce $183,000 to $217,999 in adjusted gross commission or close 55-66 units.
