Reggie Gaffney and George Spencer will face one another in a May 19 runoff after outpolling six other candidates in Tuesday’s Jacksonville City Council District 7 election.
Gaffney received 33.8 percent of the votes cast, followed by Spencer (25.3 percent).
The winner fills the seat last held by Johnny Gaffney, who left in February after an unsuccessful run for the state House.
Next up, Donald Foy (11.77 percent), Sirretta Williams (10.13 percent), Niki Brunson (9.14 percent), James Eddy (3.76 percent), Marc McCullough (3.46 percent) and Wendell Sams (2.56 percent).
All of the candidates are Democrats except Brunson, who has no party affiliation.
