The remodeled Whiteway Deli & Tavern scheduled its “grand reopening” from 5 p.m.-midnight Dec. 15.
The Riverside institution is at 1237 King St.
Its Facebook page invites customers to check out the new look and try out its expanded menu “with burgers, craft beers, & whiskey along with our classic sandwiches that you have loved for years.”
Whiteway says it is Jacksonville’s oldest restaurant and has been one of Riverside’s favorite lunch spots since 1927. It will open daily for lunch, dinner and cocktails from 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. starting Friday. There are two bars.
It will no longer open for breakfast, but the popular neighborhood-named sandwiches remain on the menu.
Wawa Inc. spokeswoman Lori Bruce said Thursday the store at ath The Crossing at Town Center 4866 Gate Parkway will open Dec. 21.
The company’s first two stores at 6787 Wilson Blvd. in Jacksonville and 678 Blanding Blvd. in Orange Park are scheduled to open Wednesday.
