Tinseltown wants to renovate concessions area, add a bar

Cinemark applies to the city for a zoning exception last year to sell alcohol.

Cinemark Theaters wants to renovate an existing concessions area to add a beer tap, cooler and liquor storage for a bar at its 4535 Southside Blvd. location.

The city is reviewing a permit application for Twin Shores Management LLC to renovate the 251 square feet of space at a cost of $100,000.

Cinemark, based in Plano, Texas, applied to the city for a zoning exception last year to sell alcohol at the 20-screen theater. 

A spokesman said in June there was no timetable for the development other than planners would look at a lobby upgrade after electric recliners were installed in auditoriums.
