Sugar Factory delays Town Center opening, sets new start date

The Las Vegas company is hiring to fill a dozen job categories for the Jacksonville American Brasserie.

  • Share shows 12 job positions for Sugar Factory American Brasserie’s Jacksonville restaurant that is scheduled to open Jan. 16.

The Las Vegas-based restaurant says at that it will open Jan. 9 at The Markets at Town Center and had been taking reservations for that date.

On Jan. 2, it alerted those who made reservations that “due to unforeseen circumstances, we will have to push the restaurant opening to January 16th.”

As of 3:40 p.m. Jan. 2, the website showed reservations through OpenTable were available starting at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 16. 

The restaurant is at 4910 Big Island Drive in a former Brio Tuscan Grille that has been renovated.

Hours will be 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Sugar Factory posted previously on Twitter it would open Dec. 26, but posted that day that the Jacksonville location would open in January and is taking reservations. shows postings for:

Polisher (from $10 an hour), server ($10), drink runner ($10), food runner/busser $10), hostess ($13), retail ($13), porter ($13), pastry ($14), dishwasher ($15), receiver ($15), prep/line cook ($15-$20), and sous chef, ($45,000 to $50,000 a year).

Sugar Factory says on its website that its main dining room will seat 179 customers and it also has a 20-seat bar area and an outdoor patio with space for 107 people.

At the front will be Sugar Factory’s signature candy dot wall, candy heart lounge and a candy retail store with more than 50 types of treats and more on the signature floor-to-ceiling candy wall.

The restaurant will sell brunch, lunch and dinner featuring burgers, pastas and salads as well as stir fry and other entrees.

Cocktails include $39 specialty goblet drinks that can be served without alcohol for $29.

The World Famous Sugar Factory King Kong Sundae is $99 and serves 12.
