A proposed Daily’s convenience store and gas station in Nocatee will require approvals from both Duval and St. Johns counties.

That’s because the county line runs through the proposed development, most of which is in St. Johns County.

Plans were submitted April 10 to both counties.

England-Thims & Miller Inc. is the civil engineer.

The project includes a 6,361-square-foot store with eight pumps and four fueling stations. There is no car wash.

A Daily's gas station and convenience store is planned on an outparcel, bottom right, bisected by Duval-St. Johns property line.

The store is proposed on an outparcel at the southwest end of the Nocatee West Shopping Center, owned by Publix Super Markets Inc., off Burbank Avenue and Valley Ridge Boulevard.

St. Johns County Growth Management previously said both counties are working together on permitting at the shopping center. St. Johns County is reviewing entry road plans, while Duval County is permitting the buildings.

Publix Super Markets paid $6.66 million for the property May 15. DDI Inc. of Jacksonville sold it to Sonoc Company LLC.

Daily’s owner and operator, First Coast Energy, bought its 2.5-acre parcel in the shopping center through First Coast Energy LLP for $3.15 million on Dec. 18, 2024, from Sonoc Company LLC.

Daily’s convenience store and gas station is planned in an outparcel at the Nocatee West Shopping Center off Burbank Avenue and Valley Ridge Boulevard.

The city issued a permit Dec. 5 for Hawkins Construction Inc. of Tarpon Springs to build a 49,785-square-foot Publix, drive-thru pharmacy and liquor store at a project cost of $14 million.

The council line also runs through the Publix.

On Dec. 9, permits were issued for Hawkins Construction to build two multitenant buildings at the site: a 9,100-square-foot Retail Shell A and an 8,400-square-foot Retail Shell B, each at a cost of $1.35 million, totaling $2.7 million.

The site plan for the Daily’s in the Nocatee West shopping center shows most of the store is in St. Johns County, but the fuel tanks are in Duval.

In addition to the proposed Daily’s, there are four outparcels ranging from 0.9 to 2.01 acres, all in Duval County.

Publix also operates a store in the Nocatee Town Center in the St. Johns County portion of Nocatee, about 2 miles east of the planned store.

A Daily’s gas station and convenience store is at 40 Settlement Drive, south of Nocatee Parkway in St. Johns County, about 2.5 miles east of the site.

Daily’s, founded in 1997, operates primarily in Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Gainesville and Broward County, according to its website.
