The Jacksonville Bar Association invites members and nonmembers to attend the 2025 Justice Raymond Ehrlich Trial Advocacy Seminar 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 16 at the Duval County Courthouse.

It is a CLE event that honors the legacy of the late state Supreme Court Justice Raymond Ehrlich while advancing excellence in civil and criminal trial practice.

Designed for litigators of all experience levels, the full-day seminar offers up to 5.5 general CLE credits, including credits in ethics, professionalism, technology, mental health and wellness and board certification in civil and criminal trial aw.

Highlights of the program include:

• Opening remarks by event Chair Mitch Stone, emphasizing the role of continuing education and professionalism in trial advocacy.

• Fourth Circuit Chief Judge Lance Day remembering Ehrlich’s life and influence on the legal profession.

• Rick Block with plaintiff-side civil trial tech use and effective case presentation.

• Holly Howanitz sharing civil practice defense strategies and insights on maintaining wellness during high-pressure litigation.

• Darcy Galnor and Gary Shumard providing real-world lessons from criminal defense, focusing on strategy, professionalism and ethics.

• Assistant U.S. Attorney Tysen Duva, offering practical approaches to criminal prosecution and the ethical responsibilities of modern prosecutors.

• A judicial panel featuring Circuit Judge London Kite and Duval County Judges Eleni Derke and Roberto Arias, offering experience-based insights into what makes an effective trial attorney and how courtroom conduct influences outcomes.
