Costco Wholesale Corp. shoppers not only are anticipating gas pumps at the Town Center membership club.

They also will see an upgrade to one their most popular purchases.

A food court refresh.

Costco wants to improve its food court and that includes removal and replacement of the well-used pizza oven.

The city is reviewing a building-permit application for an estimated $250,000 project for a 1,024-square-foot tenant improvement to the 48-seat food court in the 151,240-square-foot retail center at 4901 Gate Parkway.

The work includes, but is not limited to, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical/lighting systems revisions.

And it includes the removal and replacement of the pizza oven, the oven hood, equipment, fixtures and finishes.

MG2 Corp. of Seattle is the architect. Essential Construction and Maintenance Services LLC of Braselton, California, is the contractor.

Issaquah, Washington-based Costco operates 903 warehouses, including 623 in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

Costco charges a standard Gold Star membership at $65 a year, which allows shoppers access to the groceries, clothing, luggage, household items, personal care and services that include a pharmacy, optical shop, tires and more – including the food court.

“A trip to Costco just isn’t complete without a stop at their lauded food court. Shoppers flock to offerings like the affordable hot dog combo, jumbo slices of pizza, and cups of soft-serve ice cream,” wrote CountryLiving.com in January 2025 as it reported on menu updates.

The cheese and pepperoni pies are sold whole and by the slice. Customers are advised to call ahead or place their order before they start shopping.

The 18-inch pizzas are $9.95 and they are $1.99 by the slice.

TheStreet.com reported April 12, 2025, that about 137 million members pay the membership to shop at the discount warehouse, which promotes low prices.

“Many make the trek to their local store just for access to the food court alone,” it wrote, including for the $1.50 hot dog meal.

Costco is rolling out some new items, including a strawberry banana smoothie and converting the fountain business back over to Coca-Cola. It has offered Pepsi drinks only for over 10 years.

SouthernLiving.com reported March 20, 2025, that the hot turkey and provolone sandwich, “which mysteriously disappeared from menus during the pandemic, is officially back.”

Costco doesn’t break down in its Securities and Exchange Commission filings how much business the food court provides, but it is part of the “warehouse ancillary and other businesses” that account for 20% of sales.

That group includes gasoline, pharmacy, optical, food court, hearing aids, and tire installation.

Costco, which opened the Gate Parkway store in 2000, wants to rezone its 13.91-acre property to add a members-only gas station in a corner of the parking lot.

It proposes adding 12 fuel pumps with 24 fueling stations, a fuel kiosk enclosure, curbing and landscape islands.
