Upcoming events on the Downtown Southbank will mark the opening of a new playground and the reopening of Friendship Fountain.
The city of Jacksonville announced that the fountain is scheduled to reopen at noon April 17 after a temporary closure for upgrades and aesthetic improvements that include fresh paint and mechanical enhancements.
On April 19, the new playground at St. Johns River Park will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Eggstravaganza, an Easter-themed event featuring egg hunts, music and entertainment, crafts, food and ice cream trucks, face painting, crafts and more.
The fountain and park are at 1015 Museum Circle.
Recent improvements to Friendship Fountain followed a yearslong $8 million renovation and upgrade that was completed in 2024.
The playground at St. Johns River Park features a historical theme and includes a centerpiece of play equipment that resembles a sailing ship.
