Salvatore’s Old Fashioned Pizzeria at 4820 Deer Lake W. in Tapestry Park has closed.

The Rochester, New York-based chain has 37 restaurants opened or planned throughout New York State and one planned in North Carolina, according to its website.

The Jacksonville restaurant is not listed on the website.

It announced its expansion to Jacksonville in July 2023 and opened in February 2024.

In addition to pizza the restaurant served calzones, Italian subs, wings, burgers, fish, pasta dinners and desserts.

The franchise was owned by Elisa and Ferdinand Formoso, relatives are longtime friends of the founder, Salvatore Fantauzzo.

“The new (Jacksonville) location will be run by Fairport native and physician Ferdinand Formoso, who was chosen from multiple candidates due to his credentials,” the news site, democratandchronicle.com, said on social media when the expansion was announced.

The closing announcement on Instagram read in part: “We know it was unexpected and wish we could have stayed open longer, but we know we are just a number of Jacksonville restaurant closures at this point.”

A phone message at the restaurant number said the Formosos want to sell the restaurant.

However, its Facebook page makes no mention of the closing. There are four posts advertising Good Friday specials.
