Bold Birds Nashville Hot Chicken plans to open a second Jacksonville restaurant in the fall, according to a report on businessdebut.com.
The first Jacksonville Bold Bird opened in 2021 at 1173 Edgewood Ave. S. in Murray Hill. The new one will be at 5635 San Jose Blvd. in Lakewood.
The establishment offers six levels of heat, from no hot sauce to its hottest level, which it playfully calls “Hotter than a Mother Clucker.”
The menu includes two tenders with a dipping sauce or three tenders with two dipping sauces. Other options include quarter chicken, which a choice of white or dark meat, and a half chicken that is a leg, thigh, breast and wing. Entrees are served with one side, bread and pickles.
Chicken and Waffles are available Friday through Sunday.
There are several chicken sandwiches, including a pimento cheese sandwich, along with sodas, milkshakes and beer.
Business Debut reports the restaurant is 3,000 square feet and will seat about 95 inside, plus another 20 seats outside on the patio. Service will be fast-casual. Phone orders for takeaway are accepted.
Owner Jerry Brown also owns the family-operated Murray Hill location. The Browns are from Nashville, Tennessee, where they operated Watermark in The Gulch district of downtown for more than 13 years.
The new location expects to open at 11 a.m. daily and close at 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.
