Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. notified the city and the state Aug. 18 that it will lay off 58 employees in Jacksonville at 550 Water St. Downtown.
It told Mayor Donna Deegan and the Florida Department of Commerce State Rapid Response Coordinator that the “separation of employees” will be Oct. 18.
“This action is expected to be permanent,” USA Head HR Ashok Seetharaman said in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification letter.
The affected job titles include 25 developers, 13 tech leads, six system administrators, four service delivery managers, two engineers, two analysts and one each among six more titles.
The letter said that all Tata Consultancy Services employees that work at or report into the facility will be terminated unless they become employed in another position with TCS.
The building ownership is affiliated with railroad company CSX Corp., whose headquarters are nearby at 500 Water St.
In July 2022, CSX Corp. said it was partnering with India-based Tata Consultancy Services to outsource some of its information technology services, affecting 137 jobs.
CSX said in a July 6, 2022, email that Tata Consultancy Services was providing operation, maintenance and support services for CSX IT systems.
“As a result of this change, 137 CSX technology employees in maintenance and support roles will be transitioning from CSX employment and many impacted employees have an opportunity to join TCS and continue to provide support services to our company,” it said.
TCS is a subsidiary of Mumbai-based Tata Group.
TCS and CSX did not immediately respond to questions about the WARN notice.
