The Back Nine Golf, a national indoor golf simulator center, is on course to expand to Ponte Vedra.
On Aug. 28, St. Johns County issued a build-out permit for the project costing $250,000 for a 2,809-square-foot space. It is planned at 10620 U.S. 1, Suite 308, in the Shoppes of Valley Ridge south of Race Track Road, alongside such other tenants as Dank Burrito, Body Fit Training gym and Valley Nails & Spa.
Saint Johns-based Osterer Construction Co. is the contractor.
The Back Nine, a franchise company, offers indoor golf simulators for courses including St. Andrews, Scotland; Pebble Beach, California; and Black Desert, Utah.
Its Jacksonville Beach location at 4056 3rd St. S, which opened in July, has three membership levels ranging from $180 to $360 per month, though prices vary by location. Each provides 24-hour access, entry into leagues and tournaments across locations and can invite guests during team times.
Memberships are not required, but advanced sign-ups at some locations are. They include Ponte Vedra, which has a waitlist as it prepares to open.
According to thebackninegolf.com, the company operates more than 250 locations in 29 states. Including Jacksonville Beach, five are in Florida, across Bradenton, Miramar Beach, Naples and Oldsmar. Six more are planned, including the Ponte Vedra location and in Boca Raton, Bradenton, Melbourne, Port Charlotte, Port St. Lucie and Spring Hill.
The company was founded by Wil Bangerter, an attorney, in January 2021 in St. George, Utah. It began franchising in 2022.
