The Florida Theatre Performing Arts Center Inc. board of directors announced Dec. 10 that it accepted President Numa Saisselin’s resignation.
“We thank Numa and his wife, Laurie, for their more than 13 years of service to the Theatre, and we wish them the best in their future endeavors. During his time as president, Numa led multiple initiatives to strengthen the Theatre’s ties to both the North Florida and arts and entertainment communities, furthering our place as one of the most revered and well-attended theatres in America,” board Chair Don Cameron said in a email.
The release did not provide a reason for Saisselin’s resignation.

Kevin Stone, Florida Theatre’s vice president of programming, will serve as interim president effective immediately.
In the email, Saisselin said there have been more than 2,100 performances on the 98-year-old stage since he became president of the historic Downtown venue in 2012.
“I was a Boy Scout, and the Scouts taught me to leave the campsite better than I found it. The Florida Theatre organization has grown more than four times its size since 2012. In addition, over $17 million of capital improvements have been completed, and $2.5 million of work is underway right now.
A new stage left Green Room and dressing rooms will be completed this spring, making a better experience for the performers, and a marquee renovation is in the planning stages,” Saisselin said.
“If you have enjoyed the Florida Theatre with me over the last 13 years, I hope you will continue to support it and its programs, so that 100 years from now, your grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be able to enjoy it too. Thank you for the honor of serving this institution.”
