Brooks Rehabilitation announced Dec. 16 it is pursuing three construction projects that will bring $68 million in capital investment and 150 jobs to Clay and Duval counties.
The projects comprise expansions of Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in South Jacksonville, Brooks Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic in Orange Park and Helen’s House in Jacksonville, the organization’s family and patient housing facility.

“At Brooks, we firmly believe in a patient-centered approach to care, which includes supporting families and communities throughout their recovery process,” Doug Baer, president and CEO of Brooks Rehabilitation, said in a news release.
“This substantial investment reflects our unwavering commitment to providing world-class rehabilitation solutions and ensuring that every individual has access to the highest quality rehabilitation services.”
The largest initiative, according to the release, is the expansion of Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital - Bartram Campus at 6400 Brooks Bartram Drive. Brooks said the $47 million project will add 48 beds and the option for further expansion, the release said.
The expansion will accommodate patients recovering from brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, transplants and other disabling conditions.
The hospital will add an Innovation Studio, a space featuring smart home and assistive technologies designed to ease patients’ transitions home after injuries. Funding for it came from donations from a patient, according to the release.
Brooks is investing about $16 million to double the size of Helen’s House at 6207 Beach Blvd., the release said.

The Orange Park outpatient clinic, at 500 Park Ave. off Wells Road, will undergo a $5.4 million, 7,000-square-foot expansion. The project includes 2,100 square feet for a new pediatric feeding and swallowing clinic. The state of Florida provided part of the funding for the specialized service to fulfill an unmet need in pediatric care, the release said.
Brooks expects to start construction on the three Jacksonville-area projects in 2026, with completion planned for 2027 and early 2028, according to the release.
Brooks is building an 80,000-square-foot inpatient rehabilitation hospital on Mayo Clinic’s Phoenix campus in Arizona, scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, the release said.
