Jacksonville Beach-based Quality Maritime Training has been acquired by The Kimberton Group.

Viking Mergers & Acquisitions announced the deal July 16 in a news release.

Founded in 2005, Quality Maritime Training is a U.S. Coast Guard-approved provider of advanced maritime certifications. It was acquired by Nick and Carson Andrew in 2012.

The Kimberton Group is a holding company founded in 2023 by Mason Christensen and Duncan Hamilton. It invests in lower middle-market businesses, the release said.

“Mason and Duncan are the right fit for this next chapter,” Nick Andrew said in the news release. “We’re proud of what we built and excited to see it grow.”

Andrew Hakkarainen and Max Roix of Viking Mergers & Acquisitions facilitated the transaction.

The Kimberton Group owns the Sea School, a maritime trade school with a Jacksonville location. Sea School also has locations in St. Petersburg; Charleston, South Carolina; Panama City; Fort Lauderdale; and Bayou La Batre, Alabama.

It also owns APCA, a drug testing firm that serves the maritime industry in St. Petersburg.

The Kimberton Group said in the release it plans to establish the greater Jacksonville area as a key training hub in the Southeast.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
