A JEA administrator has been elected secretary-treasurer of the Florida Municipal Electric Association board of directors.
Ricky Erixton, JEA chief electric systems officer, has been an FMEA board member since 2020. He was elected to the secretary-treasurer position during the organization’s annual conference July 23 in Ponte Vedra.
Founded in 1942, the FMEA is a trade association representing the interests of Florida’s 33 public power communities. According to flpublicpower.com, it provides members with government relations, mutual aid coordination, communications, education and networking opportunities.
“I’m proud to serve alongside an exceptional group of leaders who will help continue to steer Florida’s public power utilities toward further innovation, sustainability and reliability,” Erixton said in a JEA news release.
Erixton’s career at JEA spans more than 30 years, starting with a co-op role in 1989 and then joining the organization in a permanent capacity in 1991. He was named chief electric systems officer in January 2025.
“This appointment is a testament to Ricky’s professionalism, expertise and dedication to public power. His service will help further strengthen JEA and our public power communities throughout Florida,” JEA Managing Director and CEO Vickie Cavey said in the release.
