Walmart, Cracker Barrel adding EV stations

Five Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets and one country restaurants are in review for the projects.

Five Walmart stores and the North Jacksonville Cracker Barrel are preparing to add electric vehicle charging stations.

The city is reviewing horizontal development permits for the Walmart projects.

At $1.3 million each, Walmart intends to adding EV stations at three Supercenters and two Neighborhood markets. 

Plans show Walmart will convert some existing parking to EV parking stalls, install chargers, transformers, signage and associated civil work.

Bowman Consulting Group of Melbourne is the civil engineer.

The three Supercenters in review for EV chargers are at 9890 Hutchinson Park Drive in Arlington; at 8808 Beach Blvd. at southwest Beach and Southside boulevards; and at 6767 103rd St. in Cedar Hills in West Jacksonville.

The two Neighborhood Markets are at 8011 Merrill Road in Arlington and at 10550 Old St. Augustine Road in Mandarin.

The city also is reviewing a site-clearing permit for a Tesla Supercharger station at the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. at 13250 City Station Drive at River City Marketplace in North Jacksonville.

Tesla intends to install three preassembled supercharger units and three supercharger cabinets, 12 supercharger posts and more equipment.

The site-clearing cost is estimated at $36,000.

GDP Group Inc. of Akron, Ohio, is the project manager.
