Jacksonville’s largest company has been excluded from the Fortune 500 in past years, because it is mutually owned and does not file the same annual reports as public companies.
However, when the magazine published its 2025 list June 2, GuideWell Mutual Holding Corp., parent of health insurer Florida Blue, was included, giving Jacksonville four Fortune 500 companies.
GuideWell ranked 136th with $32.955 billion in 2024 revenue, according to Fortune.
The other three Jacksonville-based companies that have been in the list for several years continued to maintain their Fortune 500 status: CSX Corp., Fidelity National Financial Inc. and Fidelity National Information Services Inc., or FIS.
Fortune’s listing on its website did not say what changed this year to add GuideWell to the list. It does say the mutual company “is grouped with stock companies because it reports according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.”
FIS was previously the highest ranked Jacksonville company in the Fortune 500 and while it remained in the list, its ranking dropped sharply after it sold off its Worldpay payments processing business, reducing its annual revenue.
The financial technology company ranked 288th in 2024 with $14.68 billion in revenue but it fell to 402nd this year with $10.54 billion.
CSX fell 11 spots to 301st, with $14.54 billion in revenue last year.
Title insurer Fidelity National Financial rose 38 spots to 313th, with $13.681 billion in revenue.
FIS was spun off from Fidelity National Financial in 2006.
Jacksonville had another Fortune 500 company two years ago, Landstar System Inc. However, the trucking company’s revenue has dropped the last two years as demand for truck freight services fell.
Landstar remained in the 2025 Fortune 1000 list at 685th, 65 spots lower than last year, with $4.834 billion in revenue.
Dream Finders Homes Inc. also continued in the Fortune 1000 list with $4.452 billion in revenue last year.
The homebuilding company moved up 64 spots to 720th.
The Fortune 500 consists of companies headquartered in 225 cities in 37 states, the magazine said in a news release.
New York City has the most Fortune 500 companies of any city with 43, but California has the most of any state with 58.
Florida has 22 Fortune 500 companies led by Lakeland-based Publix Super Markets Inc. at 71st, with $60.177 billion in revenue last year.
Walmart Inc. is the largest U.S. company for the 13th straight year, with about $681 billion in 2024 revenue.
