The candidates and their goals for the JBA YLS:

My main goal is to help grow our philanthropic efforts, especially around the golf tournament, but I’m happy to roll up my sleeves and assist with planning events, making calls or just doing the behind-the-scenes work that helps everything run smoothly.

Back in law school, I chaired the philanthropy committee and ran a few charity golf tournaments for the Student Bar Association and I’d love to use that experience to help boost participation and fundraising for the annual golf tournament.

While I’m still somewhat new to town, I’m excited to meet new people, get involved and give back to the community through YLS.

My goals are to enhance the YLS’s pro bono service including through visibility and support of the various pro bono initiatives throughout Jacksonville and continue to foster the YLS’s (and JBA’s) commitment to collegiality between all lawyers in the Jacksonville area.

These goals will be accomplished through continued support of existing opportunities (for example, JALA’s Ask a Lawyer events and the Young Lawyers Institute) as well as the development of a YLS-specific pro bono opportunity and programming related to best practices that young lawyers can utilize during interactions with difficult opposing counsel.

My goal for joining the Jacksonville Bar Association YLS Board is to support the JBA Young Lawyers Section as they create programming to support young lawyers, the legal community and the city of Jacksonville.

I hope to collaborate with the board to foster opportunities for community, promote access and inclusion and encourage professional development.

As a Jacksonville native, I’m committed to working with fellow young lawyers to grow our profession and to lead and serve our community.

As a first-generation college graduate and public servant, I believe the legal field must serve and empower our communities. YLS initiatives like the Chili Cook-off and mentoring Raines and Ribault trial teams already make a strong impact.

My goal is to strengthen those efforts and propose new pro bono and outreach ideas. As an assistant public defender, I see firsthand the legal challenges our community faces. YLS can help address these through legal workshops on topics like firearm laws and medical marijuana.

Education is power, and YLS can be a key resource in sharing it.

Involvement. I believe Jacksonville has become an ideal destination for many young lawyers. With this growth, we need to capture the engagement of the new arriving attorneys.

Not only this, JU has now added a law school, which we can help partner with to foster engagement from the students and offer mentoring opportunities.

Not only would I like to strengthen the involvement of young lawyers, but I want to ensure our fantastic events are maintained while incorporating new/fun events. Just like the Jags, I see the YLS on the precipice of a Super Bowl run, and I hope to grow this invaluable opportunity that we have before us.

To maintain the outreach and support YLS currently provides to its members, as well as to bring fresh ideas to the table for engagement, specifically in regards to mental wellbeing of our attorneys.

We are extremely fortunate to have such a collegial Bar in Jacksonville and I am ready to step into a bigger role in furthering that mission.
