Whataburger says it will open June 9 at 6251 103rd St. in West Jacksonville.

The restaurant is in a former Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar west of Blanding Boulevard.

The $1.9 million project comprised $1.6 million to renovate the Applebee’s into a Whataburger and $300,000 for site-clearing work.

Whataburger renovated a closed Applebee’s restaurant at 6251 103rd St. west of Blanding Boulevard across the street from Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

After it opens at 11 a.m., the dining area and the drive-thru will be open 24 hours daily, according to a June 5 news release.

It has a double drive-thru and digital menu boards and orders can also be placed via kiosk.

Customers can order online and Whatburger delivers. Breakfast items are served from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m.

The West Jacksonville restaurant is owned by the Silvercreek Group LLC and Key Operator Markus Garnett.

Silvercreek paid $1.7 million for the 1.69-acre property in December 2023.

Plans showed a 76-seat restaurant in a 5,000-square-foot building.

The restaurant will employ 90 and is led by Operating Partner Austin Foster, the release said.

With the new location, there are 15 Whataburger restaurants in Northeast Florida.

Whataburger sells burgers, sandwiches, fries, salads, drinks, shakes, breakfast, desserts and snacks.

The chain is based in San Antonio.
