The city is reviewing a permit for the core and shell building for Baptist HealthPlace at Seven Pines at southeast Butler Boulevard and Interstate 295.

Brasfield & Gorrie LLC is the contractor for the estimated $15 million project on 10.45 acres at 11851 Stillwood Pines Blvd.

The shell building will comprise two stories and 52,607 square feet of space for a Baptist Primary Care clinic; specialty clinics to include internal medicine, cardiology and neurology; a Healthy Living center; and a lab draw.

The site plan for the Baptist HealthPlace at Seven Pines at southeast Butler Boulevard and Interstate 295.

Jacksonville-based England, Thims & Miller Inc. is the civil engineer; E4H Architecture of Dallas is the architect; Legacy Engineering Inc. of Jacksonville is the private provider for city plan compliance.

Pavilion Health Services Inc. is the property owner for Baptist Health.

The review follows a permit issued Feb. 21, 2024, for preliminary work at a project cost of $200,000.

The city issued a site clearing permit Oct. 2, 2024, for horizontal development at a project cost of $3 million. That work included space for Baptist HealthPlace and a future building next to it.

Baptist Health announced Feb. 6 it broke ground on its Baptist HealthPlace at Seven Pines campus and plans a spring 2026 opening.

“By situating the campus in this dynamic and high-traffic area of southeast Jacksonville, Baptist Health is making quality care conveniently available right where people live, work and thrive,” Catherine Graham, senior vice president, clinical service lines and ambulatory business development for Baptist Health, said in the February news release.

It said the medical facility will offer a range of health services that includes primary care, a news release said.

Baptist Health bought the 10.5-acre site in October 2021 for $10 million.

The news release said the campus will have two medical office buildings, each two floors.

The first will be about 52,000 square feet and will house primary care practices for family and internal medicine physicians, and offices for cardiologists.  A wellness center will offer programs, coaching and education to promote preventative health care lifestyles.

The second is a proposed 68,000-square-foot building with an ambulatory surgery center. It will be designed to meet the health needs of the community as they arise.

“With the capacity to expand services over time, Baptist HealthPlace at Seven Pines is an investment in the long-term health and well-being of this community,” said Michael A. Mayo, president and CEO of Baptist Health, in the February release.

The Seven Pines master-planned community is about 1,000 acres. When complete, it will have about 1,600 single-family homes, upscale apartments and more than a million square feet of commercial and retail space.

Another medical office building is planned adjacent to Baptist HealthPlace.

Onicx Group of Tampa is developing the two-story, 50,000-square-foot building on 3.53 acres that it bought for $2.6 million.
