Parker’s Kitchen is seeking to expand its planned Northeast Florida footprint with a gas station and convenience store in Fleming Island.

Clay County is reviewing a permit application submitted June 2 for the store.

The project is planned at U.S. 17 and Creighton Road on an undeveloped lot south of a Gate gas station and west of the St. Johns River.

It is the seventh identified in North Florida for the Savannah, Georgia-based convenience store chain. No locations have opened.

The Fleming Island site is owned by Insuramerica of Florida Inc. through Creighton Road Development LLC. It owns two adjacent parcels there totaling 3.5 acres.

Project plans call for a 5,204-square-foot convenience store with an unspecified number of fueling stations. Previously reported Parker’s Kitchen projects in the region have included eight fueling stations with 16 gas pumps.

There are 51 parking spaces.

Jacksonville-based Kimley-Horn is the civil engineer.

In addition to the proposed Fleming Island store, the company is planning Northeast Florida locations at Faye Road and Alta Drive in North Jacksonville; northeast Wilson Boulevard and Middleburg Road on the Westside; Blanding and Tanglewood boulevards in Orange Park; the site of a closed CVS at 9100 Atlantic Blvd. in the Regency area; and a location in South Jacksonville.

Parker’s Kitchen offers a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu that includes biscuits baked daily on-site, catfish, grits, sausage patties and gravy, fried chicken.

Parker’s Kitchen also submitted an application for a store in Nassau County at William Burgess Boulevard off Florida 200 in the Wildlight master-planned community June 4.

The convenience store chain serves “Southern-inspired” food, according to ParkersKitchen.com. Its menu includes biscuits baked daily, catfish, grits, sausage patties with gravy, chicken tenders, pork chops, pulled pork sandwiches, fried okra, breakfast burritos, lemonade and its trademark “Signature Chewy Ice.”

Parker’s Kitchen says it aims to “redefine food service and convenience” with freshly prepared food, quality products and strong customer service at its stores across coastal Georgia and South Carolina.

Founder and CEO Greg Parker opened the first Parker’s store in 1976 in Midway, Georgia. The company recently expanded into Augusta, Georgia, with a new store that opened May 24 at Mike Padgett Highway and Tobacco Road.

Clay County’s Development Review Committee is scheduled to review the Fleming Island project at its June 12 meeting.
