Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville announced June 23 it will relocate its West Jacksonville clinic at 5927 Old Timuquana Road on Oct. 1.

The clinic will move to the Community Health Outreach campus at 5126 Timuquana Road.

The nonprofit’s South San Marco Dorion-Burt Clinic at 3728 Philips Highway, Suite 34, will remain in operation.

Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville provides medical services to the uninsured and underserved.

The West Jacksonville clinic opened in 2020 in the 32210 ZIP code when research found residents there were among the most frequent users of the emergency room for primary care. It has provided more than 1,500 patient visits and saved emergency rooms in the area $6.5 million in costs.

Volunteers in Medicine receives $200,000 from the city of Jacksonville. It also receives grants and donations from businesses and individuals. It receives no federal funding.

It has more than 240 health care volunteers, which allows the organization to provide $3 of service for every $1 given to the nonprofit.

“For over five years, we’ve been honored to serve the West Side in partnership with Inspire to Rise,” Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville CEO Jennifer Ryan said in a news release.

“This transition to CHO’s campus enables us to grow and offer more comprehensive care in one location, including access to dental, pregnancy resources and nutritional support.”

Community Health Outreach was formed in 1988 combining healthcare food assistance and infant care programs to those in need.

“Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville is a trusted healthcare partner in the community,” said Dr. Rob Thomas, CEO of CHO. “This partnership expands access to vital services for those who need it most.”
