A member of the Jacksonville Planning Commission is stepping down.

Julius E. Harden, the member representing Planning District 4, announced in a June 26 email to Mayor Donna Deegan that he is resigning effective July 11.

In his resignation notice, Harden said he was no longer able to devote adequate time to his duties on the board due to professional and personal commitments.

Deegan nominated Harden to the nine-member commission in September 2023. In October of that year, Jacksonville City Council confirmed the nomination for Harden to replace Alexander G. Moldovan for a first full term that was set to expire on Sept. 30, 2026.

Phil Perry, the city’s chief communications office, said the Deegan administration would be reviewing candidates to fill the site and will file an appointment once the selection is made.
