Giselle Carson: From Boston Marathon to the ballroom

The shareholder and immigration attorney at Marks Gray is a past president of the Jacksonville Bar Association.

Giselle Carson, a shareholder and immigration attorney at Marks Gray and past president of the Jacksonville Bar Association, had quite a schedule last week in addition to her law practice.

She ran the 129th Boston Marathon on April 21, then flew back to Jacksonville to prepare to participate April 25 in River City Dancing with the Stars to benefit the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus.

Carson, 57, finished the 26.2-mile run in Boston with a time of 3:49:42, a pace of 8:46 per mile.

“It was an emotional, electric run, surrounded by amazing runners and people from all over the world, all in, all cheering,” she said. “I always take time to soak in the signs, cheers and energy from the crowd and share it back. It lifts me.”

Carson performed in her fifth ballroom dance competition Saturday evening at the University of North Florida Lazzara Performance Hall. 

She and her professional dance partner, Gil Maldonado from All About Ballroom, helped raise more than $177,000 for the children’s chorus through the audience and online voting for teams.
