Gerber Collision & Glass, with 11 locations in Northeast Florida, is preparing to create a 12th by renovating a former Badcock Home Furniture & More store in the Panama Park area.

The city issued a permit Nov. 12 for interior demolition of the 16,449-square-foot store at 6521 N. Main St. at a project cost of $45,000. Vision Development & Construction Services LLC of Atlanta is listed as the agent.

The city also is reviewing a permit application for an estimated $2.1 million renovation of the pre-engineered metal building, along with site work and landscaping.

Charles Vincent George Architects Inc. of Naperville, a Chicago suburb, is the architect.

The site is between 54th and 56th streets, east of Main Street. It is north of Brentwood and Talleyrand.

Based in Elmhurst, another Chicago suburb, Gerber Collision & Glass says that it has been in operation for more than 80 years. It performs auto collision and glass repair services.

GerberCollision.com shows it has more than 800 locations in 34 states.

The 11 in Northeast Florida comprise six in Jacksonville and two each in Orange Park in Clay County and St. Augustine in St. Johns County and one in Macclenny in Baker County.

Badcock Home Furniture & More stores closed after parent company Conn’s Inc., based in The Woodlands, Texas, filed for bankruptcy in July 2024.
