In mid-October, Travis Fulton Golf grew to four locations with the opening of its Downtown studio.
The new site is on the Southbank in Riverplace Tower at 1301 Riverplace Blvd., Suite 2020. It offers a golf simulator, a putting area, a lounge with TVs, a bar, conference space and views of the Downtown skyline.
After launching his original space at 14787 Philips Highway near Nocatee, Fulton partnered with Fore Score Golf at 7570 Gate Parkway in South Jacksonville and with Deerwood Country Club at 10239 Golf Club Drive, where lessons for members and the general public are available at the outdoor range.

The operations provide private lessons, a youth program and corporate outings.
Fulton was the first director of instruction at the PGA Tour Golf Academy at World Golf Village. He later held a similar position at TPC Sawgrass for eight years and after that was at the Golf Channel for five years. He was on-air talent for the “Morning Drive” and “On the Range” programs.
For his 4,700-square-foot Downtown studio, Fulton reached out to tenants in the Riverplace Tower and other offices to build a list of clients for private lessons. He also is booking company gatherings.
“We’ve had two corporate events already in there with about 35 people each. It’s really cool, happy hour with food and beverage,” Fulton said.

“And then, we incorporate a golf lesson and contests.”
Private lessons are scheduled at the client’s convenience. Weekly lessons are available, as is flexible scheduling.
“Most people will do a series and spread them out over a couple of months,” he said.
Fulton employs six instructors, including a head instructor at each of the four locations.
Another instructor focuses on the junior golf program.
Lesson packages include a personalized one-hour teaching session at $175. Other options include a package of three one-hour lessons, normally $450 but priced at $375 through the end of the year.
Fulton encourages students to take indoor lessons, hitting off mats to allow for a better assessment of the many facets of the golf swing. Once students have practiced the fundamentals, Fulton suggests they progress to the Deerwood practice area to hit off grass.
