Krista Joseph will serve a second one-year term as chair of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, with Ann Taylor elected vice chair, following a Nov. 18 vote at a special meeting.

The terms start immediately.

Commissioners Joseph, Taylor and Christian Whitehurst voted yes for both appointments. Commissioners Sarah Arnold and Clay Murphy, the immediate past vice chair, voted no.

A Republican, Joseph has lived in St. Johns County since 2015 and was elected in 2022, upsetting incumbent Commissioner Jeremiah Blocker. Blocker raised $292,118 to Keating-Joseph’s $26,160, according to the supervisor of elections. She won by 117 votes.

Her first public-sector job was a governor-appointed position on the Citrus County Hospital Board. Her district includes Ponte Vedra.

Taylor, also a Republican, is serving her second year in office after defeating incumbent Commissioner Henry Dean by roughly 800 votes in the 2024 primary. He raised $273,695 to Taylor’s $32,436.

She is from Arizona, according to the St. Johns County website, and has lived in the county since 2013. She is president of her homeowners association board of directors. Taylor’s district includes parts of St. Augustine.
